It’s basically a fancy way of saying the guts of the machine are shielded from water spray, so you don’t have to worry about a short circuit the moment someone takes a shower. The Glare Problem
Ever looked at a standard infrared lamp and felt like you were staring into the sun? It’s brutal. If you’re using these for infants or anyone with sensitive eyes, that blinding white glare is a huge no-go. We solved this by tweaking the light spectrum. Instead of just letting the lamp blast everything, we use specific quartz and internal coatings to filter out those harsh blue-light peaks. The result? You still get all that cozy, deep heat on your skin, but your eyes aren’t fighting for their lives. It’s warm, but it’s gentle.
The Balancing Act
Building these for “wet zones” means we have to be careful. We use high-temp gaskets to keep the moisture out, but there’s a catch. Since the unit is sealed tight to keep the water out, the heat has nowhere to go. If we don’t get the heat sink exactly right, the internal driver will basically cook itself. If the housing isn’t beefy enough to handle the thermal mass, the lamp will just shut itself off way too early. It’s a constant tug-of-war between keeping the water out and letting the heat breathe.
A Quick Tip on Setup
When you’re installing these, do yourself a favor: put it on its own dedicated circuit. These lamps pull a lot of power when they first kick on. If your wiring is too thin, you’ll get a voltage drop, and you’ll notice the heat just isn’t hitting the way it should. Give it the power it needs, and it’ll actually do the job.
