If you’re trying to warm up a chilly bathroom or a breezy gazebo, you can’t just guess on the heater. You need to look at the size of your space and the heat output of the unit. Picking the Right Power
A 1500W unit is usually the sweet spot. If you’ve got a small bathroom (think under 5 square meters), one of these will get the room cozy fast. But be careful. If you put too much power in a tiny space, it’ll get hot way too quickly. The heater will keep clicking on and off, which eventually wears out the internal parts. For bigger spots or an outdoor gazebo, one 1500W lamp isn’t going to do the trick. You’ll end up with “cold spots” where you’re shivering while someone else is roasting. The trick is to spread the heat. Instead of buying one giant, expensive heater, just use a few 1500W lamps spaced about 2 meters apart. It keeps the warmth consistent across the whole area.
The Boring (But Important) Electrical Stuff
The great thing about short-wave lamps is that there’s no waiting around. You flip the switch, and you feel the heat. Instant. But here’s the catch: these things pull a lot of power. You have to make sure your wiring can handle it. A single 1500W lamp on a 220V circuit pulls about 6.8 amps. That sounds fine, but if you plug four of them into one circuit, you’re hitting 27 amps. Your 20A breaker will trip almost immediately. It’s a headache you don’t want.
Saving Money on Your Power Bill
If you want to keep your electric bill down, pay attention to your ceiling height. If the lamp is mounted too high, the heat just disperses before it ever reaches you. You’ll find yourself cranking the power up just to feel something, which is a waste of money. Try to keep the lamp within 2.5 meters of where you’ll actually be standing. That way, the 1500W of power is warming you up, not the wooden beams in your ceiling.
